Garden

Stewards: Dorothy Mockensturm and Mike Saccoccia

The Garden ministry of St. Andrew’s grows vegetables to help provide nutritious food to families in our community. Located on the Central Avenue side of the church, beneath the Celtic cross, our garden has grown in size each year since its start in 2009.

All of the food grown in the garden is donated to the Feed Your Neighbor program, where it is distributed to families in the Toledo area. Feed Your Neighbor is a program of Toledo Area Ministries and runs one of the two food pantry programs in Toledo.

Our garden is 100% organic. We get many of our seeds and seedlings from the Toledo Grows program of the Toledo Botanical Gardens. Most of the water for the garden is collected from rain barrels. As a result, the garden is able to produce food with very little impact on the church budget or the environment.
